What is?

In my first blog entry I mentioned a couple of words which may be unfamiliar to some people, so here's a brief explanation of what they mean.

A gross simplification of an "art installation" is an artwork that "interacts" with the space/environment surrounding it or those who are viewing/experiencing it.

The "installation art" article from Answers.com offers the following definition:

installation art
n.
Art that is created for a specific site, often incorporating materials or physical features of the site.

The article continues to explain installations more thoroughly, so if you're uncertain after reading the above definitions then check out the article.

A "megalith" is a huge stone used in prehistoric architecture, perhaps the most recognisable of these are structures at Stone Henge. Read Answer.com's Megalith article for more information.

Similarly, a "monolith" is huge block of stone carved into the shape of a column or a sculpture, you can also read more about these in Answer.com's "monolith" article. Recognisable examples of these are the Moai on
Rapa Nui - in other words the big stone heads on Easter Island!

So what do I think I'm going to for this project - build a full scale megalith and film it?
